Clarksville Parks and Recreation continues to grow Red River Trail

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation will hold a public meeting from 1:00pm-3:00pm Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018 on the Red River Trail with a three-fold purpose.

The meeting will begin with a ribbon cutting for Phase 1 of the Red River Trail, the newest section of trail beginning at the North Extension of the Riverwalk at McGregor Park to the Providence Boulevard overpass, adding approximately a quarter-mile of trail.

Next up will be a groundbreaking for the second phase of trail development. This section of trail will continue up the Red River behind businesses on Kraft Street ending at an old bridge abutment.

Also included with this phase is the extension of the existing Clarksville Greenway to the rail bridge abutment on the other side of the river. At the conclusion of the event, guests will be invited on a sneak peak guided tour of Phase 2.

Finally, a public meeting will be held to discuss plans and the grant request for the construction of a pedestrian bridge crossing the Red River. This pedestrian bridge will be significant from both a recreation and transportation standpoint. Once built, a pedestrian or bicyclist will be able to start at the Tiny Town Road and Peachers Mill Road intersection in Northeast Clarksville and travel all the way downtown without using roadways.
