Roxy Regional Theatre
Clarksville, TN – The first half of October brings a whirlwind of entertainment options at the Roxy Regional Theatre on the corner of Franklin Street and First Street in Historic Downtown Clarksville Tennessee.
With a trio of live theatre offerings ranging from a provocative 9/11-themed drama to a cabaret to a family-friendly swashbuckling musical adventure, the Roxy Regional Theatre has a little something for everyone this month.
The Mercy Seat
October 1st – October 9th
The first offering of the month, Neil LaBute’s gripping and thought-provoking drama “The Mercy Seat”, plays four evenings only, October 1st through October 9th, in theotherspace, the 50-seat black-box theatre located upstairs at the Roxy Regional Theatre.
The play begins the day after the attacks on the World Trade Center. The world has changed overnight, and on September 12th, 2001, Ben Harcourt (played by Sean Kincaid) finds himself in the New York downtown apartment of his mistress and boss, Abby Prescott (played by Mairys Joaquin).
Ben’s endlessly ringing mobile phone haunts their conversation as he and Abby explore the choices now available to them in an existence different from the one they knew just the day before. Expecting that his family believes that he was killed in the towers’ collapse, Ben contemplates using the tragedy to run away and start a new life with his lover. Will Ben let his family know he’s alive, or will he and Abby take this chance to create a new life for themselves?
“The Mercy Seat” is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Play Publishing, Inc. Performances are at 7:00pm on October 1st, 2nd, 8th and 9th. Be sure to line up a babysitter and plan an adults-only evening, as this production contains language and content not suitable for younger audiences.

Fall Company Cabaret
October 3rd
You loved them in “Hairspray” — now come and see them strut their stuff in our “Fall Compnay Cabaret”. For one evening only, Wednesday, October 3rd, at 7:00pm, enjoy a special night of music and entertainment featuring the talented company of professional actors who come to the Roxy Regional Theatre from all over the country.

How I Became A Pirate
October 5th – October 13th
Bring the family to the Roxy’s third offering of the month, and sail off on a fantastic musical excursion with “How I Became A Pirate”, playing October 5th through October 13th.
Clocking in at just under an hour, Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman’s musical based upon the children’s book written by Melinda Long and illustrated by David Shannon, is the perfect introduction to live theatre for your little ones.
The story follows a band of comical pirates who land at North Beach looking for an expert digger to join their crew. Braid Beard (played by David Graham) and his mates enlist young Jeremy Jacob (played by Jessica Caracciolo) as they try to find the perfect spot to bury their treasure. Jeremy finds that adventuring can be lots of fun, but also learns that love and home are treasures you can’t find on any map! The whole family will love this delightful swashbuckling musical adventure!
Directed by Ryan Bowie, “How I Became A Pirate” also features Kelly Letourneau as Swill the Pirate, Alexandra West as Sharktooth the Pirate, Matthew Combs as Pirate Pierre, Drew Stairs as Max the Pirate, and Ian Erbe as Pirate Seymour Braunschwagger.
On Saturday, October 13th, patrons are invited to a “Pirate Party” before the matinee. The party starts at 12:30pm with lunch across the street at Edward’s Steakhouse (107 Franklin Street), pirate-themed arts and crafts, and photos with the cast. Tickets are $40.00 for the package, which includes the 2:00pm performance of “How I Became A Pirate”. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult, and the reservation deadline is October 5th.
Performances run October 5th through October 13th on Fridays at 6pm and Saturdays at 2pm and 6pm. In keeping with the theatre’s traditional pay-what-you-can opening night, all tickets not pre-sold at the regular ticket price on Friday, October 5th, will go on sale at 5:30pm that evening for a $5.00 minimum donation.

In the absence of weekday performances, APSU students, military and CitySaver coupon holders can receive two tickets for the price of one to Friday performances during the run.
