Montgomery County Animal Care and ControlMontgomery County, TN – In an effort to make the public aware of the animal problem in Montgomery County, Montgomery County Animal Care and Control has released the statistics on the intake, adoption and euthanasia for the month of September, 2018.

Montgomery County Animal Care and Control took in a total of 305 animals (84 kittens, 57 cats, 1 wildlife, 27 puppies and 267 dogs).

On the out take side, 228 animals were processed out of the facility: 117 animals were adopted (31 kittens, 25 cats, 6 puppies and 52 dogs); 66 animals were transferred to rescue organizations and 40 dogs, 2 puppies & 3 cats were reclaimed by their owner.

Sadly 84 animals were euthanized (47 cats and 34 dogs).

We had a good month in September diverting 40% of our owner surrenders to rescues, transferred, or rehomed/adopted the staff has been working hard to try to help as many pet owners as we possibly can. We also microchipped 117 pets in September, that is 117 pet that we can now prevent from entering the shelter should they ever get loose and return them to their owners in the field! Exciting things are happening.
