Austin Peay State University professor Dr. Dwayne Estes to speak at University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service on October 11th

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) faculty member Dr. Dwayne Estes will speak at the University of Arkansas on Thursday, October 11th, 2018 as part of the Clinton School of Public Service Speaker Series.

Estes is a professor and curator of herbarium plant systematics for the APSU Department of Biology.

He also serves as the executive director of the Southeastern Grasslands Initiative (SGI) at APSU.

His presentation, “The Southeastern Grasslands Initiative: Charting a New Course for Conservation in the 21st Century,” will focus on the important work that SGI is currently promoting as a developing nonprofit organization.

SGI is a collaboration of leaders in international biodiversity conservation led by the APSU Center of Excellence for Field Biology. SGI seeks to integrate research, consultation and education, along with the administration of grants, to create innovative solutions to address the multitude of complex issues facing Southeastern grasslands, among the most imperiled ecosystems in North America.

The initiative seeks to identify donor-related opportunities as well as a donor base for the purpose of conducting a feasibility study. It will also develop a plan for funding core support.
