APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) softball team will play a single game versus the University of Evansville, 6:30pm, Friday, October 12th at James & Dorothy Cooper Stadium in what is its final scheduled road contest of its fall schedule.

Much like its opener versus Southern Illinois University this past weekend, first-year head coach Kassie Stanfill will be playing a lot of players in a lot of different positions during the contest.

“We’re excited to get back out there and get some more innings under their belts,” Stanfill said. “We will still be mixing some positions up and making sure we’re getting people in and out to see what we have, but at the end of the day we’re looking to have some quality at bats and solid play on defense.”

Stanfill also feels that by opening the fall with a couple of games on the road versus NCAA Division I opponents adds to overall feel and level of competition the team will face during their regular-season come February.

“This spring we’re on the road a lot, so I felt going ahead and starting on the road this fall will give them the feel of having to travel get out of a van, or bus, and find a way to get their mind right to actually perform on the field.

“It’s just another way to get them prepared for the spring time.”

The Governors will conclude its fall schedule October 19th with a doubleheader versus Shawnee Community College at Cheryl Holt Field at Joe and Cathi Maynard Softball Stadium.
