Tennessee Department of Agriculture says Corn Producers to Vote on Checkoff Referendum

Tennessee Department of AgricultureNashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Agriculture says Tennessee corn farmers and landowners will be able to vote on a statewide checkoff referendum to consider a 1 cent per bushel assessment of corn sold.

Voting for this assessment program will take place November 28th and 29th, 2018 at county UT Extension offices, which are usually open from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Clarksville Police were called to a business in the 2800 block of Wilma Rudolph Boulevard, around 9:00pm, Saturday, October 20th, 2018 in reference to four females being involved with shoplifting and exiting the store with over a $1,000 in merchandise.

Clarksville Police take Hamid Houbbadi into Custody for Domestic Related Homicide

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police have a man in custody for a domestic related homicide occurring over the weekend. On Saturday, October 20th, 2018 around 5:06am, officers responded to an ambulance call at 510 Bellamy Lane.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a female later identified as Leila Chanane, 41 with multiple lacerations and incisions throughout her body. The victim was pronounced dead on scene.

OVC Media Day means APSU Basketball is right around the corner

While getting the conference’s head basketball coaches and top players together in a room with the print, radio, TV and digital media to discuss their teams and outlooks for the upcoming season will be a big part of what goes on during media day, the conference will also release its official preseason poll and All-OVC team — as voted on by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.

The book sale will be open to the public on Friday, October 26th from 9:00am–5:00pm and Saturday, October 27th from 9:00am–2:00pm.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) grad student Melody Shipley, a ceramics artist, planned to focus on her pottery full-time, but then in 2015, she went horseback riding.

It was something she did often on her family farm, but that afternoon Shipley ended up on ground, twisting her back and dislocated a rib.

American Heart Association reports Sleepiness common among Black Women, may be linked to High Blood Pressure

American Heart AssociationChicago, IL – Poor sleep habits may be related to low levels of physical activity, high blood pressure and obesity among black women, according to new research presented at the American Heart Association’s Joint Hypertension 2018 Scientific Sessions, an annual conference focused on recent advances in hypertension research.

In a study with black women who are overweight or obese, nearly half reported sleeping less than 7 hours at night, and many also reported daytime sleepiness. (American Heart Association)
