Austin Peay State University Softball’s Black Team wins Game 1 win in APSU Fall World Series

APSU SoftballClarksville, TNDanielle Liermann went 3-for-3 with four runs batted in, Tuesday afternoon at Joe & Cathi Maynard Stadium-Cheryl Holt Field, to lead the Black Team to a 7-1 win over the Red Team in Game 1 of the Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) softball team’s annual fall World Series.

Three of Liermann’s RBIs came on a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning, which was followed by a solo homer by Morgan Rackel to give the Black Team a quick 4-0 lead.

The score would remain that way until the bottom of the third inning, when Brett Jackson drove in Liermann with a single, with the Black Team’s final runs coming in the fourth inning on back-to-back RBI doubles by Liermann and Rackel.

Katie Keen and Kacy Acree also collected hits for the Black Team.

Rackel would pick up the complete-game win for the Black Team, allowing three hits – two by Natalie Schilling – while striking out four and walking one.

The Red Team’s run came in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI triple down the right field line by Lexi Osowski, scoring Schilling.The two teams continue their inter-squad World Series, 5:00pm, Wednesday at Maynard Stadium-Cheryl Holt Field.
