APSU Men’s Cross Country senior Wesley Gray leads Govs at OVC Championships

APSU Men's Cross CountryCape Girardeau, MO – Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s cross country team was led with an impressive outing by senior Wesley Gray at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Gray led the Governors in the ten-kilometer race and secured 40th among individual runners with a time of 26:09.9.

Thomas Porter again finished second for the Governors as he posted the time of 27:04.4 (63rd).

Hezron Kiptoo followed up after Porter and he placed 64th with the time of 27:13.7.

Junior Tyler Smith was not far from the Govs top three runners as he clocked in less than six seconds and finished 66th (27:19.8).

Daniel Davis was the next Governor to cross the finish line as he clocked 28:11.0 (74th). Andrew Abel recorded a top-80 finish as he placed 79th with the time of 28:25.6. In less than 19 seconds later, Nash Young finished 84th with the time of 28:44.7. The final runner for the Govs was freshman Joseph Redman secured 85th with the time of 28:52.8.

“Wes did a great job,” said Governors coach Doug Molnar. “You want that senior leadership and [Gray] provided that. We need to run together. That really hurt us today.”

The Governors are set for the NCAA South Regionals on November 9th in Tallahassee, Florida.
