Kiplagat placed 33rd in the five-kilometer race in a time of 18:53.4, followed closely by junior Maisie Lay, who crossed the finish line with a time of 19:31.4 (56th).

Freshman Mikaela Smith finished top-three for the Govs as she posted her career best time of 19:51.5 (63rd).

Sarah Martin was the next Governor to cross the finish line, narrowly missing the 20-minute barrier by three seconds with the time of 20:03.1 (68th). Freshman Larin Harr secured a top-75 finish with the time of 20:29.8 (75th). Alura Endres placed 77th crossing the finish line at 20:32.2.

Freshman Madison Morstad (21:06.8), sophomores Keleah Shell (21:08.5) and Sophia Wilson (21:52.3), and freshman Lexie Nicholas (23:10.5) all gave solid performances to round out the remainder of the Governors points.

Head coach Doug Molnar was impressed by the performance of Kiplagat, the squad’s lone senior, and didn’t overlook the performances of his freshmen.

“Cross country is a sport that tends to be dominated by seniors and Caroline did a great job,” Molnar said. “Mikaela had a personal best and did a great job as a freshman as did Sarah Martin. We only graduate Caroline so the future looks bright for our team.”

The Governors placed 10th in the teams in scoring at the OVC Championship and recorded 10th in back to back years. The Governors are set for the 2018 NCAA South Regionals in Tallahassee, Florida on November 9th.
