Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – A lot was made about Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) football program landing quarterback Jeremiah Oatsvall to it recruiting class a couple of years ago and less than two seasons into his career the hype may have been a little under stated, as the sophomore QB has already put up some numbers that rank among the best to ever take a snap for the Governors in their history.

Dodging the Roadkill: The San Ran Motel

Dodging the Roadkill - A Biker's JourneyRobbinsville, NC – When I hit the road, I’m always looking for AMERICAN owned, old school motels.  I don’t need a lot of “foo foo” like shampoos, conditioner, breakfast bar and all of that. I travel self contained.

I look for fairly priced and clean rooms.  I don’t want to step into the shower and see a bug, or a yellow line around the tub.  I check the sheets and pillowcases.  I’m EXTREMELY OCD!  I carry handy wipes and air freshener. (Ok, I know that might be over the top).

My last trip to the Smoky Mountains, I stayed at the San Ran Motel in Robbinsville, North Carolina.  It’s conveniently located near the Tail of the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway.

NASA sizes up Planets Discovered in Milky Way Galaxy

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationPasadena, CA – The planets so far discovered across the Milky Way are a motley, teeming multitude: hot Jupiters, gas giants, small, rocky worlds and mysterious planets larger than Earth and smaller than Neptune. As we prepare to add many thousands more to the thousands found already, the search goes on for evidence of life – and for a world something like our own.

And as our space telescopes and other instruments grow ever more sensitive, we’re beginning to zero in.

Artist’s concept of how rocky, potentially habitable worlds elsewhere in our galaxy might appear. Data gathered by telescopes in space and on the ground suggest that small, rocky planets are common. (Placing them so close together in a line is for illustrative purposes only.) (NASA/JPL-Caltech/R. Hurt (SSC-Caltech))

Austin Peay State University (APSU)

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) professor Dr. Chris Gentry doesn’t know why his grandmother had the globe, the atlases or the subscription to National Geographic.

“I had no idea where some of the stuff came from,” he said. “But when I was a kid, we’d go to her house, and I would sit and spin the globe, put out my finger, stop it someplace and go, ‘What’s up with Greenland?’”
