For the first time in recent memory, the Govs come in fresh, with no previous exhibition contests on their resume.

National Weather Service issues Flood Advisory for Clarksville-Montgomery County

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Nashville has issued a Flood Advisory for Northwestern Montgomery County and Stewart County in Middle Tennessee for Monday night, November 5th, 2018 until 11:30pm CT.

Doppler radar indicates heavy rain causing minor flooding in the advisory area. Doppler radar estimates up to two inches of rain have already fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include: Dover, Clarksville, Big Rock, Land Between The Lakes and Indian Mound.

National Weather Service issues Tornado Watch for Clarksville-Montgomery County

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Tornado Watch for the Clarksville-Montgomery County area until 3:00am, Tuesday, October 6th, 2018.

A line of strong to potentially severe thunderstorms is expected to move across Middle Tennessee bringing with it a risk for Tornadoes.

A Tornado Watch is issued by the National Weather Service when conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes in and close to the watch area.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reports 2018 Muzzleloader Season Opening Weekend Nets almost 7,700 Deer Harvested

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Tennessee deer hunters had a harvest of 7,683 on the opening weekend of muzzleloader season as reports continued to trickle in Monday, November 5th, 2018 according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).

The current harvest number is an increase from the 4,949 recorded on the 2017 opening weekend.

Roane County had the top weekend with a harvest total of 237. Montgomery County was second with 223.

The Govs are coming off an exhibition game where they topped the century mark in a 108-74 victory over Georgetown College (KY).

Nicholsville, KY – R.J. Corman Railroad Company announced the finalization of an agreement to acquire the Nashville & Eastern Railroad Corp. (NERR), Nashville & Western Railroad Corp. (NWR), Transit Solutions Group, a commuter rail operation, and three related operating entities.

The closing is subject to customary regulatory approvals, and R.J. Corman is expected to take over operations in January 2019.

Austin Peay State University computer science student Robyn Yates wins at Georgia Tech hackathon

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Robyn Yates is having one heck of a hacking season representing Austin Peay State University (APSU).

At the VolHacks hackathon in September at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, she and her Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) teammates won several top honors, including for the “Pi-Mail” hack she and three other team members worked on.

Austin Peay State University senior Robyn Yates was part of a team that won two awards at VolHacks at the University of Tennessee and an individual award at HackGT at Georgia Tech.

Clarksville Police Department’s Sergeant John W Hunt Retires After 35 Years in Law Enforcement

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Department Sergeant John W. Hunt, more commonly known as “JW” retired, effective October 31st, 2018 after 35 years.

Sgt Hunt was hired with the Clarksville Police Department, August 1st, 1983.

He was selected to be a detective in 1987, and promoted to Sergeant in 1995.

AAA reports Tennessee Gas Prices Drop to Seven-Month Lows

AAANashville, TN Tennesseans are finding the lowest prices at the pump since April. The state average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.56 – 17 cents less than this year’s high, and 28 cents more than this time last year. 

Gas prices continued their downward trek last week, declining another 5 cents.  The state average declined for the 24th consecutive day on Sunday, for a total discount of 14 cents.

Project Yesu to hold Annual Orphan Luncheon Fundraiser November 18th

Project YesuClarksville, TN – Project Yesu, a Clarksville nonprofit which supports orphaned and vulnerable children in Uganda, is holding their annual Orphan Luncheon fundraiser on Sunday, November 18th, 2018 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at the Belle Hollow.

The theme of this year’s luncheon is “Celebrations & Stories,” where organizers will share memories of where they’ve been, and where they plan on going in the future.
