Students in the Academy’s Challenge Based Learning (CBL) program wrote the fitness center grant request, which was approved by the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation. The foundation was created in 2006 to promote health initiatives and manage property and assets generated from the sale of the community’s public hospital.

The comprehensive outdoor fitness center consists of 13 pieces of equipment, including an elliptical cross trainer, a recumbent cycle, two-person parallel dip station, and a two-person full bar exerciser. In addition, several pieces of equipment are wheelchair accessible.

This is the third outdoor fitness gym to be added by Clarksville Parks and Recreation; others are at Liberty Park and the Clarksville Greenway.

Students who participated in the grant process include Ian Claypool, James Downing, Marshall Finch, Landry Forte, Donovan Hardison, Leah Hayes, Nicole Hunter, Jason Herlick, Daniel Loos, Will Mabry, DJ McCormick, Noah Parker, Shaan Patel, John Ross Ransdell, Rachael Skinner, Devon Terwilliger, Ben Truex, Sam Walker, and Brody Woodson.

A ribbon cutting will be at 11:00am Monday, November 26th, 2018 at the McGregor Park North Extension Trailhead behind O’Charleys on Riverside Drive.
