Fort Campbell’s Blanchfield Army Community Hospital to open Patient Welcome Center

Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH)

Blanchfield Army Hospital - BACH - Fort Campbell KYFort Campbell, KY – Blanchfield Army Community Hospital will open a Patient Welcome Center today, Monday, November 26th, 2018 and be open from 8:00am until 3:30pm weekly Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

“The command understands the importance of patients having a location within the hospital for patients to stop by and ask questions,” said Maj. Tyler Garrett, chief of BACH’s Clinical Services Division.

Since April 2014, TRICARE Service Centers no longer offered walk-in service locations on military installations within the U.S. As TRICARE beneficiaries began accessing electronic, Internet and toll-free customer service features, the need for a walk-in location lessened.

There are some services; however, BACH’s command felt the need to provide face-to-face communications.

“We feel this face-to-face communication will promote a positive patient experience, especially for newly arriving Soldiers, retirees and their family members,” said Col. Anthony L. McQueen, BACH commander.

Face-to-face interactions can support navigation of healthcare services, increase awareness about online resources, and determine what resources patients may need and are lacking.

The Welcome Center will be staffed by a registered nurse who can help patients navigate through some of the processes needed to complete their medical care goals and needs.

The Welcome Center nurse will spend time on Tuesday and Thursday weekly identifying possible gaps between services, educational and care team support needs, as well as conducting briefs to newly arriving Soldiers and families at the Installation Newcomer’s Orientation.

The Welcome Center is located within the A Building, First floor of the hospital in room 1AA13A. To schedule a time with the Welcome Center representative, patients may call 270.412.0781.
