APSU Men’s Basketball gets overtime win over Troy, 79-74

APSU Men's BasketballTroy, AL – Once more, Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball team had to shake off a slow start and rally to force overtime on the road.

But for the Governors, this one turned out a little differently as Austin Peay (3-4) persevered to defeat Troy (3-4) in a gutty 79-74 victory at Trojan Arena for the Governors first true road victory of the season.

Nashville Predators shut out at home by Arizona Coyotes 3-0

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators couldn’t break through Arizona’s 6’6 goalie, Adin Hill tonight as the Coyotes blanked the Predators 3-0.  Injuries forced Hill into the net with tonight being his first start.  Hill made 29 saves on the night.  

The injury plagued Predators had plenty of opportunities to light the lamp, but couldn’t break through tonight and dropped their second game in a row.  They welcome the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night.

The two teams went back and forth during the first period, but ended the frame scoreless.

APSU Women's BasketballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s basketball team earned a victory over Lipscomb, 70-58, Thursday night, at the Winfield Dunn Center.

The Govs (4-3) dominated the glass and won the turnover battle en route to their second consecutive win.

TBI changes Former Cross Plains Police Chief James Yates with Official Misconduct

Tennessee Bureau of InvestigationNashville, TN – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has resulted in the indictment of the former Cross Plains Police Chief.

In June, at the request of 19th District Attorney General John Carney, TBI Special Agents began investigating James K. Yates on allegations of misuse of governmental records. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that between July 2016 and November 2017, while serving as chief of the Cross Plains Police Department, Yates used the Criminal Justice Portal System to make inquiries unrelated to his official duties.

APSU Baseball releases 2019 Schedule

Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces large outdoor fitness center now open at McGregor Park

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces that the McGregor Park North Extension Trailhead is now home to the largest outdoor fitness center in Clarksville, thanks to a group of Clarksville Academy students and a grant from the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation.

Students in Clarksville Academy’s Challenge Based Learning program wrote the fitness center grant request, which was approved by the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation.

About 550 oboists and bassoonists climbed the bleachers around 11:00pm August 31st at the International Double Reed Society’s annual conference.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 6 Tennessee’s starting five combined for 72 points, fueling the Volunteers to a 95-67 victory over the Eastern Kentucky Colonels Wednesday night at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Four Vols scored in double figures, headlined by a double-double from junior forward Grant Williams. The Charlotte, North Carolina, native posted 21 points, 11 rebounds and five assists and was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line. The performance marked Williams’ seventh career double-double.
 
Senior guard Admiral Schofield poured in 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field, while junior point guard Jordan Bone added 14 points and seven assists for the Big Orange.

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department’s investigation into the Homicide of Antorious Gallion which occurred on November 19th, 2018 around 7:39pm is still ongoing.

Clarksville Police are asking for the public’s help to see whether there is surveillance footage available from businesses or residents on November 19th between 7:30pm and 8:00pm on Warfield Boulevard, Warfield Court, Bellamy Lane, Rossview Road, Raleigh Court or Stokes Road capturing the images of a black four door Ford Taurus or Black four door Jaguar traveling on the roadways.
