There is no evidence of structural failure of the drain grate.

A monthly preventative maintenance inspection is conducted on all storm drains in CMCSS. That particular drain was inspected on November 13th, 2018 and the drain grate was intact.

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System has evidence that there was student involvement in the missing grate. Due to legal student privacy issues CMCSS cannot discuss that further.

CMCSS also has information that the missing grate was observed in hours prior to the event Thursday night, and it had been reported to the school’s front office. That portion of the investigation is pending.

Director of Schools Millard House continues to follow the progress of the mother involved in the accident, and hopes for a full recovery.
