Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMCSS)Montgomery County, TN – This month, the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) is very appreciative of the gifts our students and educators are to the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System and this community.

Their outstanding recognitions reflect positively on our organization and show how committed they are to excellence.

Sango Elementary School’s Mark Banasiak was chosen as the 2019 SHAPE America Southern District Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year. Montgomery Central High School’s Shannon Morrison as the 2019 SHAPE America Southern District Secondary Physical Education Teacher of the Year.

SHAPE America (the national Physical Education association) recently recognized:

Sango Elementary School’s Mark Banasiak was chosen as the 2019 SHAPE America Southern District Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year.

Montgomery Central High School’s Shannon Morrison as the 2019 SHAPE America Southern District Secondary Physical Education Teacher of the Year.

The southern district includes 14 states from Texas to Virginia. As a result, both are now a top five finalist for the SHAPE America National Physical Education Teacher of the Year in their respective categories. The national winner will be announced in April 2019.

In November, the Kenwood Knights Robotics teams competed in a VEX State Qualifying tournament in White House, TN.

At the completion of the tournament, two of Kenwood’s teams were awarded honors beyond just robotic competition.

Team 98706W was awarded the Judges’ Award for their outstanding interview and overall robot design.

Team 98706S was awarded the Excellence Award, given to the overall top team and the highest honor in the competition.

Team 98706K made it to the semifinal round of the tournament. Abraham Wolfe is the VEX Robotics Head Coach.

Rossview High School student Joseph Bierman has been selected to represent Tennessee as a nominee for the National U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. Ashley Rands of RHS was recognized for the Career Technical Education component.

RHS student Joseph Bierman has been selected to represent Tennessee as a nominee for the National U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. He was chosen from more than 100 applicants and the process was highly selective.

He will go on to compete at the national level, with the chosen recipient announced in April. Joseph was recognized for the General Academic Component. Ashley Rands of RHS was recognized for the Career Technical Education component.

On the athletics side, congratulations to Zaden Webber of Rossview High School, who was a finalist for Mr. Tennessee Football.

CMCSS had one school and two individuals receive A.F. Bridges awards at the TSSAA Regional meeting in Nashville last month.

We, along with TSSAA, are extremely proud for the administration and staff at Montgomery Central High School, Dr. Doughty and Mr. Cummings.

Montgomery County Soil Conservation District together with the Kiwanis Clubs of Clarksville, recently hosted their Annual Conservation Awards at which Danny Boner, Montgomery Central High School agriculture teacher, received the 2018 Agriculture Educator Award.

One Rossview High School and four Rossview Middle School students were chosen for the Organization for American Kodály Educators National Youth Choir that will take place in Columbus, Ohio March 20th-23rd, 2019.
One Rossview High School and four Rossview Middle School students were chosen for the Organization for American Kodály Educators National Youth Choir that will take place in Columbus, Ohio March 20th-23rd, 2019.

One Rossview High School and four Rossview Middle School students were chosen for the Organization for American Kodály Educators National Youth Choir that will take place in Columbus, Ohio March 20th-23rd, 2019. They include: Hailey Westerman for the American Kodaly Educators National Women’s Chorus. Her teacher is Danny Chartrand. The middle school students are: Cassidy Mahar, Grace Allensworth, Macy Izatt, and Daniel Casteneda. Their teacher is Kristina Waugh.

The OAKE National Conference is an annual event occurring in a different city each year throughout the United States, bringing together well-known clinicians, educators, conductors, and entertainment over the course of four days culminating in the Saturday performance of the students who have been selected to participate in the National Choirs.

There are four audition-based OAKE National Conference Choirs, each led by a nationally renowned conductor. Accepted singers will learn and memorize the music at home with their own teachers before going to the conference city.

The Army selected Randy Davis as the national JROTC Teacher of Year. He was an instructor at Northwest High School.

Walter Braem is the 2019 winner of the Southeastern Theatre Conference Innovative Playwriting Instruction Award.

SETC awards a one-year SETC membership, makes arrangements for you to attend the annual conference in Knoxville with a $250.00 travel allowance and hotel accommodations, and provides a ticket to the awards banquet.
