APSU Sports Information

APSU Men's BasketballNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball team sophomore forward Terry Taylor has been named Tennessee Sports Writers Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of December 18th, 2018.

2018-19 APSU Men's Basketball - Terry Taylor

It’s the second weekly honor in as many days for Taylor, who poured in a career-high 32 points and 11 rebounds in Austin Peay’s 95-68 win against Purdue Fort Wayne, Saturday, which brought the Govs nonconference home schedule to an end.

After not scoring 16 points in a contest since the Govs Nov. 18 game against Campbell in Jamaica, Taylor posted 18 points in the first half alone against the Mastodons. He sank a career-best 14 shots from the floor and also dished out a career-high five assists in the process.

After earning his second career Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor yesterday, Taylor picked up his first career recognition from the TSWA on Tuesday. He’s the second Gov to earn TSWA accolades this season, joining senior Chris Porter-Bunton, and the sixth in program history.

Taylor and the Govs seek revenge for their November 18th loss against Campbell this weekend in St. Petersburg, Florida—the rematch is Austin Peay’s opening contest in the 2018 St. Pete Shootout, hosted by Eckerd College.
