Dodging the Roadkill: Merry Christmas

Dodging the Roadkill - A Biker's JourneyClarksville, TN – Well, we’ve reached another Christmas holiday together and I just wanted to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

It seems like only yesterday when we were all staring at the Christmas tree and counting our blessings last year, but how quickly time flies, and once again we’re grateful to be here, and thankful for family and friends.

I never expected to make so many new friends through this blog and all while traveling on the back of a motorcycle.  I’ve heard some incredible stories, and learned some valuable lessons from all of you and I thank you!

Merry Christmas

The two biggest things that happened to me this year was the birth of my grandson, Beau, and my accident in September.

People had told me that grandkids were the best thing EVER, and I just agreed and went on my way.

But until you’ve had one, you just can’t fathom how much you could love something.

He’s our second little gift and we couldn’t be more proud of them both.  They’ve got incredible parents and an amazing family surrounding them.  I hope to see them grow up and become amazing men.

The accident in September still bothers me.  Not a day goes by that I don’t wonder what the HELL happened.  How did I just run off the road and slam into the brush?  I’ve replayed it a million times and still don’t have an answer.

It’s made me a more conscious rider and with the new grandson, more aware of being as safe as I can be.

The biggest thing I take away from this year and these two events is love.  The love I have for family and the love shown me during the recovery.

I’ve said it again and again.  The people I’ve met on this journey are some of the most incredible people I’ve ever met.  I spent so many years surrounded by all the “fakes” and having genuine, respectful brothers and sisters is not only comforting, but it’s a real blessing.

So many of you have reached out to me and shared your story.  Shared your ups and downs.  Shown me encouragement and love.  I never expected to make so many new friends, and I would give ANYTHING to have a chance to meet you all.

Most of all, I’m no expert and each mile I ride is a learning experience and sharing that journey is some of the best therapy a person could ever have.

Lord willing, I have plans to take some extensive trips in 2019.  Colorado, Texas, Arizona, Las Vegas and yes, I’ve even committed to join some brothers for the trip to Sturgis.

LAWDY! LAWDY!

So while I’m just a guy on a motorcycle, I’m truly a lucky man.  I have riding partners right here.  Brothers and sisters right around the corner.  But I also have this connection with you and your journey.

Merry Christmas and thanks for following along.  Together we ride!
