Sophomore Sabrina Richman earned sole possession of the OVC Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor, while senior Savannah Amato shared the Field honor with Tennessee State’s Genetria Shell.

Richman was runner-up in the 400m dash at Sunday’s Ed Temple Classic with a 55.41 mark. That’s a time which leads the OVC and is fourth nationally after she ran step-for-step with All-American Abike Egbeniyi of Middle Tennessee, finishing nearly three seconds ahead of her closest competition in the 47-woman field.

The Atlanta native also earned a victory in the 400m at the Saluki Fast Start before Christmas with a 57.19 mark and helped the Govs to a pair of runner-up wins in the 4x400m relay in Carbondale and Nashville.

Amato won again—twice—to earn a share of field honors. She was the top performer at the Saluki Fast Start and the Ed Temple Classic, posting a 3.85m mark in Nashville and a season-best 3.95m height in Carbondale, the latter clocking in at 10th nationally entering the weekend. For her career, the Delaware, Ohio native now has 21 pole vault victories in her Austin Peay career.

This is the first career weekly honor for Richman, who joined the Govs last season as a midyear addition. For Amato, this is her ninth career weekly honor and her first this season. She was part of the last Austin Peay duo to help Austin Peay earn shares of both the track and field weekly honors, which she earned along with Tymeitha Tolbert for the week of March 28th, 2018.

The Govs return to action this weekend at the Vulcan Invitational, hosted by UAB in Birmingham, Alabama. Last season, Amato set the school indoor pole vault record inside the Birmingham Crossplex, the facility for this weekend’s meet.
