Austin Peay State University Zone 3 Reading Series features poet Marcus Wicker, February 7th

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Critically acclaimed poet Marcus Wicker will visit Austin Peay State University as part of the Zone 3 Reading Series, reading from his works at 8:00pm February 7th.

Wicker has won several recognitions, including a Ruth Lilly Fellowship from the Poetry Foundation and a Pushcart Prize.

His first collection “Maybe the Saddest Thing” was a National Poetry Series winner and finalist for an NAACP Image Award.

His second book, “Silencer,” also was an Image Award finalist and won the Society of Midland Authors Award and the Arnold Adoff Poetry Award for New Voices.

Publisher’s Weekly describes “Silencer” this way: “These fiercely lyrical narratives stand in the crosshairs of the political moment.”

Wicker teaches in the MFA program at the University of Memphis, and he is the poetry editor of Southern Indiana Review.

Wicker’s reading will be in Room 120 of the APSU Art + Design Building on campus.

All Zone 3 Reading Series events are free and open to the public. A book signing and reception will follow the reading.

The APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts is co-hosting the event.
