APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) baseball starting pitcher Josh Rye surrendered just three runs over five-plus innings, but Kentucky again pieced together a late charge to claim an 11-1 victory, Sunday, at Joe and Cathi Maynard Field at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Clarksville Police report Fatality Crash on College Street

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Saturday, February 16th, 2019 around 3:30pm, Clarksville Police report a Mercury, driven by Donta Peterson, age 32, was traveling south on College Street and, for an unknown reason, crossed the northbound lanes of College Street crashing into the unoccupied building at 1320 College Street.

The driver was transported by ambulance to Tennova Healthcare – Clarksville and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Tennessee Lady Vols leave Columbia with 62-60 win over Missouri

UT Lady VolsColumbia, MO – The Tennessee Lady Vols earned a hard-fought victory over RV/RV Missouri on Sunday, coming from four points down in the final stanza to claim a 62-60 triumph in front of a crowd of 8,559 in Mizzou Arena.

Sophomore point guard Evina Westbrook led UT (17-8, 6-6 SEC) with 18 points and six assists, while sophomore forward Rennia Davis logged her 17th career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman forward Meme Collins also found her way into double digits, tying her career high of 11 points while adding six rebounds.
 
MU (19-8, 8-5 SEC) was led by Amber Smith with 14 points and five rebounds. Sophie Cunningham and Cierra Porter were close behind with 13 apiece.

APSU Men’s Golf come in Second at Invitational at Savannah Harbor

APSU Men's GolfSavannah, GA – Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s golf team was again among the best performers in the final round of the 2019 Invitational at Savannah Harbor, hosted by William & Mary.

But one big final round move conspired to knock the Govs from atop the leaderboard and forced them to settle for runner-up honors in the 18-team field at the Club at Savannah Harbor, Sunday.

The Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry is working to continue that trend throughout 2019 by reminding citizens that if they plan to burn outdoors, a burn permit is required.

The Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Welfare Society of India is considering the nomination of Dr. Somaditya Banerjee, assistant professor in the APSU Department of History and Philosophy, for the Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Samman award, which recognizes non-resident Indians for outstanding service, achievement and contributions.
