Flood Warning continues for the Red River at Port Royal

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service has extended the Flood Warning for the Red River at Port Royal until Sunday, February 24th until 10:17pm.

River levels along the Red River continue to rise and are expected to exceed Flood Stage Sunday afternoon. The Red River at Port Royal affects Montgomery County and Robertson County.

At 2:00pm Saturday, February 23rd, the stage of the Red River at Port Royal was 20.9 feet and rising. Minor flooding is forecast. Flood stage is 30.0 feet.

Recent rain and storms fell on an already saturated ground creating heavy run off and flooding.

The river is forecast to rise to near 31.0 feet Sunday afternoon.

At 33.0 feet, flooding of Port Royal State Park begins.

At 30.0 feet, low lying agricultural areas along the Red River from the Kentucky State Line to Adams, past Port Royal State Park, and on the Sulpher Fork from near Springfield to near Cedar Hill, to Port Royal State Park begin to flood.

Avoid flooded areas along the river and move personal belongings to higher ground. Never drive through flooded roads as the depth of water may be too great
to pass, even in trucks or sport utility vehicles.
