Flood Warning extended for the Cumberland River at Clarksville

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service has extended the Flood Warning for the Cumberland River at Clarksville until Thursday, February 28th at 3:00am.

At least an additional one half to one inch of rainfall is expected across Clarksville-Montgomery County and Middle Tennessee with locally higher amounts possible on already saturated ground conditions through the evening hours tonight.

Water levels will continue to rise through tonight around the Nashville area and Minor to Moderate flooding is expected to occur from the Edenwold area through downtown Nashville, and to the Bordeaux area. Flooding could persist through Monday, and linger through most of next week.

At 2:00pm Saturday the stage for the Cumberland River at Clarksville was 45.0 feet and rising. Minor flooding is forecast. Flood stage is 46.0 feet.

The river is forecast to rise to near 48.1 feet Sunday afternoon.

At 48.0 feet, flooding continues to impact agricultural, industrial, and commercial properties, Riverfront Park, and adjacent tributaries including Bartons Creek, Red River, West Fork Red River, and Yellow Creek. Impacted locations include Riverside Drive near Highway 48 and Providence Boulevard, Quarry Road, Kraft Street near College Street, Zinc Plant Road, and properties near Salem Road and Seven Mile Ferry Road. Water approaches properties near Kraft Street and Providence Boulevard, and begins to cover Riverside Drive at McClure Street and near Cumberland Drive.

At 46.0 feet, flood waters begin to impact areas along the river, including agricultural and commercial properties, Riverfront Park, and adjacent tributaries including Bartons Creek, Red River, West Fork Red River, and Yellow Creek. Affected locations include South Riverside Drive near Highway 48, North Riverside Drive near Providence Boulevard East, Quarry Road, Kraft Street near College Street, and Zinc Plant Road. Water approaches properties near Salem Road and Seven Mile Ferry Road.

At 45.0 feet, water approaches commercial and industrial properties on South Riverside Drive near Highway 48, North Riverside Drive near Providence Boulevard East, Quarry Road, Kraft Street near College Street, and Zinc Plant Road. Water also continues to inundate agricultural areas and parks along the river, and adjacent tributaries including Bartons Creek, Red River, West Fork Red River, and Yellow Creek.

Avoid flooded areas along the river and move personal belongings to higher ground. Never drive through flooded roads as the depth of water may be too great
to pass, even in trucks or sport utility vehicles.

If you come across a flooded road, turn around don`t drown.
