Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – At 7:30pm on Thursday, February 28th, 2019 the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Symphony Orchestra and the University’s Chamber Singers will present Mozart’s “Missa Solemnis in C” in the Mabry Concert Hall.

Austin Peay State University Symphony Orchestra and the University’s Chamber Singers will present Mozart’s “Missa Solemnis in C” on Thursday, February 28th.

Giesseman, Austin Peay State University music graduate student, will perform a Mozart Concerto for Clarinet, and Teodora, Austin Peay State University music major, will present The Gordelli Concerto for Flute. The concert will also feature Tchaikovsky’s “Capriccio Italien.”

The evening’s centerpiece performance, “Missa Solemnis in C,” was written by Mozart in 1780, representing the last mass the famed composer ever completed.

“I am thrilled that our student singers are collaborating with the orchestra to perform Mozart’s ‘Missa Solemnis’ for the greater Clarksville Community,” Dr. Korre Foster, associate professor of music, said. “Chamber Singers has spent much time in preparing music for alumni events, tour and our annual Holiday Dinner. It is great for them to experience choral-orchestral music of the classical style. I am also happy that our schedule allowed us to bring in Dr. George Mabry (APSU emeritus professor) for the final choral rehearsals.”

The event is sponsored by the Austin Peay State University Department of Music and the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts.
