APSU Basketball loses at Eastern Kentucky, 82-80

APSU Men's BasketballRichmond, KY – Despite an outstanding individual performance from sophomore Terry Taylor, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball team could not hang on, suffering an 82-80 to Eastern Kentucky at McBrayer Arena, Thursday.

Despite 37 points from Taylor, Austin Peay (21-9, 13-4 Ohio Valley Conference) shot below 40 percent from the floor for just the fourth time this season.

Tennessee Lady Vols fall at home to Vanderbilt, 76-69

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Redshirt senior Cheridene Green posted a career-high 20 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a Vanderbilt team that shot 53.8 percent from the floor, handing the Tennessee Lady Vols a 76-69 loss at home on Thursday night. 

Green’s previous best scoring performance also came against Vanderbilt, on January 17th, 2018, when she tallied 17 points.

In addition to Green, sophomore Rennia Davis and freshman Mimi Collins were also in double figures for Tennessee (17-11, 6-9 SEC) with 14 each. Collins’ total was a career high, while Davis posted her 21st double-figure scoring effort of the season.

The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance (TDCI) Division of Consumer Affairs today urges consumers to be on the lookout for Medicare scammers who use harassing and unsolicited phone calls, postcards or other advertisements offering back, neck, or knee braces that would be paid for by Medicare.

APSU Women’s Basketball secures OVC Tournament spot with 80-60 win over Eastern Kentucky

APSU Women's BasketballRichmond, KY – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s basketball team clinched a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament with a 80-60 win over Eastern Kentucky, Thursday, at McBrayer Arena.

The Governors (15-13, 10-7 OVC) hit 13 three-pointers as head coach David Midlick won his 100th career game as a collegiate head coach.

Clarksville Police respond to Home Invasion on Biglen Road

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police report that there was a home invasion in the 800 block of Biglen Road around 7:52am on Thursday, February 28th.

A man arrived at home, exited his vehicle and was approached by two men outside of his residence displaying handguns. He was hit in the head with a handgun and his BMW keys were taken.

He was able to get away from the men and ran behind a building at which time the men entered his residence. They were inside the house a short period of time and then fled the scene in the stolen BMW.

The stolen BMW was abandoned on Quarry Road that leads to the Vulcan Plant.

Clarksville Police seek to identify Stolen Vehicle Suspect

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police are trying to identify a suspect associated with a theft of a motor vehicle which took place at 1361 Kraft Street.

On Sunday, February 24th, 2019 around 9:30pm a man driving a Chevy Malibu went inside of the business and left his car unlocked, running, and unattended.

When he looked out from the business, he saw his vehicle being driven away and was able to stop it.

APSU Softball plays in Coastal Carolina Chanticleer Showdown this Weekend

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team will be heading to the East Coast this weekend, as they travel to Conway, SC, to participate in the Coastal Carolina Chanticleer Showdown.

Joining the Govs, who enter play this weekend with a 9-6 record after defeating Middle Tennessee in a mid-week contest, will be Radford, UNLV, Jacksonville and tournament host Coastal Carolina.

Practices will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning at 5:30pm, and Saturdays at 10:00am.

Clarksville Transit System adds Four new Bus Shelters

Clarksville Transit System - CTSClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Transit System (CTS) recently placed four new bus shelters.

“I’ve heard passengers request more bus shelters,” said Arthur Bing Sr., City of Clarksville transportation director. “We at CTS are working hard to get more bus shelters installed around the city as quickly as possible.”

The Clarksville Transit System placed four new bus shelters around the Tiny Town Road area this month. The shelters include a bench, solar powered LED lights, a trash receptacle and space for wheelchair access.
