101st Airborne Division, 52nd Ordnance Group Soldiers to return from Afghanistan

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Soldiers assigned to the 101st Airborne Division and the 52nd Ordnance Group (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) will continue to return here through March, following a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan.

In total, more than 500 Soldiers with “Task Force Destiny,” 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, and “Task Force EOD,” 732nd Ordnance Company, 184th Ordnance Battalion, 52nd Ordnance Group, will return in two welcome home ceremonies, scheduled to occur March 5th and March 9th.

Schedule

  • March 5th, 4:00am – 101st Combat Aviation Brigade and 52nd Ordnance Group
  • March 9th, 2:00pm – 101st Combat Aviation Brigade

During their deployment, the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade provided aviation support to U.S., coalition and Afghan forces throughout the Combined Joint Operations Area-Afghanistan. Task Force Destiny exceeded 50,000 flight hours, transporting more than seven million pounds of cargo and 91,000 passengers, and conducting 1,700 security missions and 256 air assault operations.

While deployed, Soldiers of the 732nd Ordnance Company provided explosive ordnance disposal support to Task Force Southeast in Southeastern Afghanistan.
