APSU Men's TennisClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s tennis team wraps up its roadtrip with a lone match against Valdosta State, 2:00pm, Thursday, March 6th.

Before embarking to Georgia and Florida for the trip, the Govs faced off against Southern Indiana at home, defeating them for the second straight season.

As a result of his performances against USI and Kennesaw State, Almantas Ozelis was named Ohio Valley Conference Co-Tennis Player of the Week. Against USI, Ozelis teamed with Anton Damberg for a win at No. 1 doubles before sweeping away his opponent at No. 1 singles in straight sets.

Ozelis had also claimed the second set in his singles match against Kennesaw State, but it went unfinished due to the team outcome already being decided.

About the Valdosta State Blazers

The Blazers (1-3) have not played a lot of tennis this season, but don’t let that or their lackluster record fool you. Ranked 14th in the latest NCAA DII Poll, the Blazers have played another ranked DII school in every match this season, including the top two schools in the poll.

The Blazers will also play their first home match of the season against the Govs. In their most recent outing, the Blazers defeated No. 18 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) by a score of 4-1 on a neutral court.
