APSU Women's GolfDade City, FL – All manner of records fell for Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s golf as the final round of the 2019 Spring Break Shootout came to a close, Tuesday, March 12th, 2019.

The Governors final-round 287 represented a program-record single round record, while the 872 overall score was the best 54-hole mark in program history.

Individually, freshman Taylor Dedmen fired a 208, shattering the previous 54-hole mark by 13 strokes.

As such, Austin Peay was able to leapfrog two other programs and into fifth place, putting together three rounds below 300 for the first time in program history (295-290-287). Host Western Kentucky (857) won the event in a scorecard playoff against cohost Florida Gulf Coast, with Troy (866) and Samford (869) rounding out the top-five of the 15-team event.

Dedmen was easily the story of the day, carding a 69—the first time a Gov has posted two sub-70 rounds in the same tournament—to take runner-up honors with an overall five-under par 208 (69-70-69). She did her damage on par-4 holes, shooting an incredible six-under for the tournament (3.78/hole) on par-4 offerings. She sank a team-high 10 birdies, including four on the back-nine alone in the final round.

Had Dedmen not obliterated the previous program record of 221, junior Meghann Stamps would’ve knocked the mark aside with her three-round 219 (75-68-76). She averaged even-par on par-3 holes and tied Dedmen for the team lead with 39 pars, second-most in the tournament and enabling the Govs to lead the field with 176 pars a team. Only a triple on the par-4 No. 5 in the final round blemished an otherwise even-par front nine.

Seniors Reagan Greene (76-76-70—222; t-30th) and Taylor Goodley (75-76-72—223; t-35th) anchored a strong middle of the lineup. That duo were the only Govs to average below-par on par-5 holes, with Greene’s 4.83 mark tied for sixth in the tournament. Taylor Goodley shook off a three-over mark after the first four holes to shoot two-under the rest of the way on Tuesday, including a 34 on the back-nine.

Freshman Shelby Darnell (78-80-79—237; t-74th) rounded out the lineup for the Govs this week. A trio of individuals got in some work, with senior Ashton Goodley (74-77-76—227; t-48th) leading the way, followed by sophomores Andrea Presilla (79-74-82—235; t-71st) and Riley Cooper (80-80-79—239; t-76th).

In less than a week, the Govs will be back in the Sunshine State for the Citrus Classic, hosted by Morehead State in Sorrento at RedTail Golf Club.
