A second-round 305 moved the Govs up a spot into eighth with a 36-hole 617, two shots ahead of Cumberlands (619) and six shots behind IUPUI, which was tied for third after the first round before a disastrous second 18.

Just 12 shots separate the Govs and fifth-place Dayton with 18 to play.

Once more, freshman Taylor Dedmen finds herself leading the Govs, tied for 19th after a second-round 75 moved her up eight spots; she’s at 151 (76-75), leading the Govs in par-4 (4.15 strokes per hole) and par-5 (4.88 strokes/hole), along with a team-best five birdies.

The back nine was particularly kind to senior Reagan Greene, who shot even-par 36 on the back in round one, with only a bogey on the par-4 at No. 11 keeping her from repeating the feat in round two. She’s at 155 (77-78; t-38th) through two rounds.

Junior Meghann Stamps (84-73) and senior Taylor Goodley (78-79) took very different paths to 36-hole 157s, tied for 50th. Stamps rallied from an opening-round 84 to sink a team-best 73 in the second round, with birdies on 17 of 18 holes and 29 over the first 36, the highest total in the tournament. Goodley birdied the 356-yard, par-4 No. 10, one of just nine birdies on that hole during the first two rounds.

Senior Ashton Goodley moved up a few spots with a second-round 79, building on an 18th-hole birdie to end the first round. She posted a 160 (81-79) 36-hole score. As the individual, sophomore Riley Cooper continued her road back to form with a 163 (82-81).

The Govs wrap the two-day event Saturday, beginning at 8:30am (ET) off Hole Nos. 8-10. Austin Peay will be paired with IUPUI and Cumberlands.
