Gainesville, FL – On a final day filled with relays, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s track and field team concluded its time in the Sunshine State with a trio of outstanding relay efforts, including two school records in non-standard events at the Florida Relays.
In a rarely-seen 4x100m hurdle shuttle relay, the quartet of Kamille Dunbar, Lennex Walker, Camaryn McClelland and Nia Gibbs-Francis—the latter a late add to the event—placed fifth with a program-record 59.05 mark, while the 4x800m foursome of Keleah Shell, Molly Howard, Maddie Morstad and Mikaela Smith broke through with a school-record 9:18.58 mark.
Over in Cape Girardeau, the freshman throws duo of Kori McDaniel and Jackie Verseman continue to prove that they will be a force in the Ohio Valley Conference for years to come. Verseman’s 34.65m mark in the discus placed her ninth and is the best showing in that event by a Governor since May 2015; McDaniel was none too far behind, posting a 34.40m toss.
The Govs return to action next weekend at the Hilltopper Relays in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
