This year, the APPA Lineworkers Rodeo was held on March 29th-30th, 2019 in Colorado Springs, CO.

“The safety of our workforce is of utmost importance to CDE Lightband and to the City of Clarksville, and I want to congratulate our team of linemen and CDE Lightband for this strong performance in the Lineworkers Rodeo,” Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts said. “The skill demonstrated by the CDE team is evidence of our effective training program and commitment to workplace safety.”

The CDE Lightband team consisted of Journeyman Lineworkers Scott Deese, George Waters, Daniel Wimbs and Jeremy Wood. Foreman Journeyman Lineworker, Randy Harper, was an event judge. The team placed in the top 10 for the Hurtman event. This particular event is very important for the safety of our lineworkers. If they are involved in a situation where another lineworker is hurt on a pole, they have to be able to get them down as quickly and efficiently as possible.

“I am so proud of our lineman,” said Brian Taylor, General Manager at CDE Lightband. “They performed exceptionally well and were great ambassadors for CDE Lightband and the City of Clarksville.”

After the Lineworkers Rodeo, APPA’s annual Engineering & Operations Technical Conference held their award ceremony for safe operating practices. Keith Cutshall, Safety Director at CDE Lightband and Chair of the APPA’s Safety Committee, presented the awards to one hundred and thirteen utilities.
