“Paducah In The Civil War” is the topic for the next Clarksville Civil War Roundtable meeting.

The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

Our speaker this month is John Cashon of Paducah, Kentucky. His topic is “Paducah In The Civil War”.

The town of Paducah, Kentucky, sitting at the confluence of the Ohio River and Tennessee River, was a vital strategic area that quickly fell to Union forces in September, 1861.

They controlled it for the rest of the war and this prevented any Confederate offensive from securing that portion of western Kentucky although the town was attacked by the Confederates twice. This month’s program will cover the Civil War history of Paducah.

Our speaker this month is John Cashon, a Paducah-based freelance writer/historian. He received his bachelor’s degree in history at Murray State University. His work appears in the Jackson Purchase Historical Society journal and his blog, Reflecting on History. He also acts as a docent at the Lloyd Tilghman House & Civil War Museum in Paducah.
He will have copies of his book for sale at the meeting.

We hope you can join us for this interesting meeting.
