APSU Beach Volleyball’s Jenna Panning, Haley Turner named to ASUN All-Academic Team

APSU Women's VolleyballDeland, FLJenna Panning and Haley Turner of the Austin Peay State University (APSU) beach volleyball team were named to the ASUN Conference’s ten-member All-Academic Team, the league announced Thursday.

Panning, a junior from Columbus, Ohio, has a 3.81 grade-point average as an accounting major. She has earned recognition on the APSU dean’s list three times and the athletics director’s honor roll once. Additionally, she was named to the Ohio Valley Conference’s honor roll in 2016-17 as an indoor volleyball athlete.

A native of Flagstaff, Arizona, Turner has maintained a 3.95 GPA as an interdisciplinary studies with a focus in K-6 education as a sophomore. Turner had the second-highest GPA of any athlete named to the All-Academic Team. She has earned distinction on the APSU dean’s list twice and the athletics director’s honor roll once.

Panning and Turner are paired together on the court as well. The duo led the Governors with a 14-7 record, including a 9-3 record at the No. 1 pairing during the regular season. After starting ASUN play with four straight victories at the No. 2 and 3 pairings, the duo was moved to the No. 1 pair, where they closed out the season.

They both are also tied for the team-lead in individual victories, posting 18-10 individual marks during the regular season.

Panning and Turner battled tough against ASUN North Division champion Coastal Carolina at the ASUN Beach Tournament, Thursday morning, but fell, 14-21, 19-21. However, the duo’s 13-3 record to close out the regular season was instrumental in leading Austin Peay to its first conference championship appearance in its first season as an ASUN member.
