Nashville Predators fall to the Dallas Stars 5-3, face elimination

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators have been backed into a corner by the Dallas Stars, losing at home, 5-3 and now facing elimination in their first round playoff series.

Dallas was all over the Predators right from the puck drop in today’s matinee game.  The Stars now lead the best of seven series, 3-2, and can capture the series on Monday night in Dallas.

Nashville got on the board first, which is usually a good omen, when Rocco Grimaldi scored at 6:25 of the opening frame.  Grimaldi captured a bouncing puck while driving to the net and netted the goal past Ben Bishop to take the early lead, 1-0.

Dallas continued to pressure the Predators, and Jason Dickinson skated down the slot to take a feed from Roope Hintz and buried the puck past Pekka Rinne, and the game was tied, 1-1.

Into the second period, former Predator Alexander Radulov scored twice to give the Stars a 3-1 lead, netting a goal at just 40 seconds into the period, then again at 7:41 with a wrist shot past Rinne.

Nashville was still in it though at 9:18 when Ryan Johansen snapped a wrist shot past Bishop over the shoulder and Nashville drew to within a goal, 3-2.

Then at 15:54 of the period, Tyler Seguin took a feed from Jamie Benn and snapped a shot past Pekka Rinne to give the Stars their two goal lead once again, 4-2.

The third period saw the Stars take complete control of the game, when Jason Dickinson grabbed a turnover from Nashville and fired a shot past Rinne and Dallas had a three goal lead, 5-2.

Kyle Turris would scored at 2:25 of the final frame for the final score, 5-3.

Nashville outshot the Stars 33-26 and had six minutes of penalties to Dallas’ four.

The series moves to Dallas Monday night with the Stars hosting a chance to clinch the series.
