Cold, Wet Weather doesn’t slow down Hilltop Supermarket’s 24th annual Easter Egg Hunt

Hilltop SupermarketClarksville, TN – Hundreds of people and children braved the cold, wet weather to take part in Hilltop Supermarket’s 24th annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 20th, 2019.  Due to the wet ground, the festivities and activities before the Easter Egg Hunt had to be canceled.

The egg hunt started at 2:00pm sharp.

“The weather hurt a little bit. We had to shutdown the activities just because of the mud and we were afraid someone could get hurt,” Cody Jackson said. “We still had a large turnout. We’re thankful.”

Jackson says it takes a lot of time to put that many eggs out, but they’re scooped up in a matter of minutes.

Due to construction on Highway 149, there were only three age groups this year; 4 and under, 5-7, and 8-10.

The grand prizes were 30 bicycles. The other prizes included small stuffed animals, hula hoops, plastic swords, sidewalk chalk, match box cars and plenty of others.

“Bargain Hunt help out a lot. They gave us a great deal that helped spread the money wisely and buy a lot more toys,” Jackson commented.

“It’s so much fun to watch the kids. This is a good event. It’s all free, and it’s all for the community,” stated Jackson. “We have a lot of local sponsors, local businesses all around us, who help us out in one way or another. All the businesses on this side of the river really pull together, and just get it done.”

This event would not be possible without the help of local businesses: Custom Clean, Jimmy Miller Construction, Mark Davis Trucking, Wyatt Body Shop, U Jumpin’ Foulks, Grandmama’s House, Cumberland Bank & Trust, Satellite Electronics, MSC Insurance, AR Fence Company, Hilltop Pharmacy, Ajax Distributing and Las Plazas Mexican Restaurant.

Jackson also wanted to thank their silent sponsors. They didn’t want to be mentioned. They are local businesses on this side of the river and he really want to thank them as well.

“Giving out the prizes went excellent this year. We used three U-Haul trucks to help with giving out the prizes,” Jackson said. “I want to thank U-Haul for letting us use them. It went the best it has every gone this year. Everybody was really thankful for how well it went.”

“Hilltop puts this event on every year to to give back to our community. This community has helped us to be here for over 50 years,” Jackson stated. “We love being apart of this community. This is just our a way for us to give back and show our appreciation.”

This is a great event for the Montgomery County community. For those that did not attend this event, make sure to come out next year and see what all the fuss is about. It just keeps getting bigger and better each year.
