Interstate Exit Beautification Task Force will hold it’s first meeting at Clarksville City Hall on Tuesday, May 14th.

Michelle Newell and Richard Stevens, communications directors for the county and city, respectively, will be coordinating the task force’s efforts, and will be joined by citizen volunteers recruited by the mayors and staff members from City and County departments.

The first meeting of the Interstate Exit Beautification Task Force will be at 4:00pm Tuesday, May 14th, 2019 at City Hall, One Public Square, in the Mayor’s 4th Floor Conference Room.

Here are some of the tasks that the mayors have asked the Task Force to tackle:

  • Develop low-maintenance landscaping plans and mowing plans for Exits 4, 8 and 11. Exit 1 has been excluded because of an ongoing grant project to reintroduce native plant species to that area.
  • Coordinate with Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) officials about allowable landscaping strategies, and secure TDOT participation and permits.
  • Research grant opportunities for beautification projects at exits.
  • Coordinate with public art committees and commissions and TDOT for inclusion of public art.
  • Develop a strategy for maintaining improvements.
