APSU’s Doug Molnar will not return as head coach of Track and Field, Cross Country

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison announced Tuesday, May 14th, 2019 that Doug Molnar will not return as the APSU’s head track and field and cross country coach for the 2019-20 season.  Molnar’s contract will not be renewed. Molnar has been with the programs since 2005.

“I would like to thank Doug for his 14 years of leadership and commitment to Austin Peay Athletics,” Harrison said. “The Austin Peay track and cross country programs have taken a positive step during his tenure and is in a better position in the Ohio Valley Conference than he found it.

“Our goal is to claim the Commissioner’s Cup and provide the best student-athlete experience possible; during this search we will identify the next person that will move our program closer to this goal. Our new coach will lead with passion, win with class and believe in the ‘Total Gov Concept.'”

Associate head coach Valerie Brown will lead the program on an interim basis. A national search for the program’s next head coach will begin immediately.
