The Monday-Friday camps run from 8:00am-4:00pm, June 3rd-28th, 2019.

“This camp offers what most camps in the area don’t, an opportunity for teens to find their passion for the outdoors,” Clayton Sheehan, assistant director of programs for Austin Peay State University Recreation, said. “This camp is a perfect way for teens to find new hobbies and learn how to do them safely.”

Each day the teens will travel around the Clarksville area for the days’ activities. Trips include hiking at Land Between the Lakes, climbing at King’s Bluff, canoeing on the Red River and caving at Dunbar and Indian Gravepoint caves.

Campers start and end each day at the APSU Foy Fitness and Recreation Center at Austin Peay State University. The camps are $220.00 each week for members of the Foy Center and $235.00 for nonmembers. Camp space is limited to 12 campers each week.

“When people think of outdoor recreation, they immediately think of Chattanooga or Knoxville,” Sheehan said. “But in Clarksville, we have climbing, mountain biking, paddling and hiking. We should be encouraging our teens to learn about and take advantage of the opportunities that are in their backyard.”
