Clarksville, TN – Kickoff times for the Austin Peay State University (APSU) football team’s 2019 home schedule has been announced. Home slate features six contests at Fortera Stadium for the first time since the 2003 campaign.
The home slate also features visits from both 2018 Ohio Valley Conference FCS Playoff participants, as OVC champion Jacksonville State and at-large tournament selection Southeast Missouri play in Clarksville in back-to-back home games sandwiching the team’s bye week.
The season will kick off against North Carolina Central, 7:00pm, Thursday, August 29th. It will be the first Thursday night home game for the Governors since a 2013 contest against then-No. 4 Eastern Illinois, and it will be the first meeting between the Govs and the Eagles. The game against NC Central will also serve as Educators Day for Clarksville Montgomery County School System teachers and staff, as well as Greek Day for APSU Greek students.
The Govs play host to Central Arkansas the following weekend with kickoff set for 2:00pm, Saturday, September 7th, in just the second all-time meeting between the Govs and the Bears. The second home contest also will be APSU Employee Appreciation Day.
After two non-conference games on the road, the Govs begin OVC play against JSU, 2:00pm, Saturday, September 28th. The Govs will look to pick up a crucial victory against the five-time reigning OVC champion Gamecocks.
Following a bye week, the Govs welcome Southeast Missouri to Clarksville for a 2:00pm contest, Saturday, October 12th. The game against the Redhawks will serve as Monocle Society Day and Youth Team Day.
The Govs hit the road for three straight OVC contests, and will return for Homecoming against in-state rival UT Martin set to kickoff at 3:00pm, Saturday, November 9th.
The Governors close out the regular season at home against Eastern Illinois, with kickoff set for 2:00pm, Saturday, November 23rd. The season’s final game will feature Military Appreciation Day, as the team and university say ‘Thank You’ to the nation’s armed forces. It will also be Senior Day for the Governors playing in their final home contest, as well GOMB (Band) Day.
