TWRA announces 2019 Tennessee Free Fish Day set for Saturday, June 8th

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) says that this Saturday, June 8th, is the 2019 Tennessee Free Fishing Day. On Saturday, anyone may fish free without a license in Tennessee’s public waters.

The TWRA provides the annual free day in hopes of increasing interest in fishing. The day allows anyone the opportunity to try this great outdoor sport, especially children to celebrate fishing as a wholesome and healthy recreational option.

Tennessee Board of Regents to look at recommendations on Student Tuition, Mandatory Fees at June 4th meeting

 

Tennessee Board of Regents - TBRNashville, TN – On Tuesday, June 4th, 2019, two committees of the Tennessee Board of Regents and the chairs of all the board’s committees will meet in Nashville – including the Finance and Business Operations Committee, which will make its recommendations on student tuition and mandatory fees for the 2019-20 academic year.

The June 4th meetings will be held in the board room at the TBR System Office at 1 Bridgestone Park, Nashville, Tennessee.

AAA reports U.S. Gasoline Stocks rose Ahead of Memorial Day Weekend

 

AAATampa, FL – AAA says that just before the busy Memorial Day weekend, refineries across the country boosted their crude utilization rate to 91.2% — a significant increase to a spring season which has seen utilization in the 86-88% range, mostly due to unexpected and planned maintenance.

The higher rate helped boost gasoline stocks by 2.2 million bbl to 230.9 million bbl last week, according to the Energy Information Administration’s weekly petroleum status report for the week ending on May 24th.

Nashville Sounds fall to New Orleans Baby Cakes late rally, 7-4

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds were tied with New Orleans in the eight inning when the Baby Cakes plated three runs to take a 7-win win Sunday afternoon at First Tennessee Park. The Sounds went 5-8 on the longest homestand of the season.

Nashville’s three-run bottom of the seventh staked them to a 4-3 lead. Trailing 3-1 entering the frame, the first five batters reached against New Orleans reliever Mike Kickham. Chase d’Arnaud doubled, Adam Moore walked and Tyler Depreta-Johnson doubled down the right field line to trim the deficit to 3-2.

American Heart AssociationDallas, TX – According to a study of workers at a nuclear plant in Russia published in the American Heart Association’s journal Hypertension, prolonged exposure to low doses of ionizing radiation increased the risk of hypertension

Uncontrolled hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, can to lead to heart attack, stroke, heart failure and other serious health problems.

This study is the first to associate an increased risk of hypertension to low doses of ionizing radiation among a large group of workers who were chronically exposed over many years. (American Heart Association)

TWRA, Clarksville Parks and Recreation annual Youth Fishing Rodeo set for June 8th

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRAClarksville, TN – The  Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has announced that the 2019 Free Fishing Day in Tennessee when anyone may fish free without a license in Tennessee’s public waters is this Saturday, June 8th.

TWRA and Clarksville Parks and Recreation will be holding their annual Youth Fishing Rodeo at Liberty Park’s pond on Saturday, June 8th, 2019 from 7:00am to 9:30am.

Over 300 participants are expected. The age limit for the event is 0 to 16 years of age.

Montgomery County Clerk’s Office Recognized for Support of Organ and Tissue Donor Registry

County Clerks across the state were challenged to show their support for the organ and tissue donor registry by participating in the annual Blue & Green Day.

“The Montgomery County Clerk’s Office was honored to participate and accept the statewide award. We enjoyed getting involved in this important initiative, but we know we did not do this alone,” said Kellie Jackson, Montgomery County Clerk.

NASA’s Mars 2020 rover has high definition cameras installed

 

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationPasadena, CA – On February 18th, 2021, after the NASA Mars 2020 rover touches down on the Red Planet’s Jezero Crater, one of it’s first operations will be to raise its remote sensing mast (RSM), which carries important optics and instrumentation.
