101st Airborne Division Soldiers Welcome 95th Air Assault Brigade of Ukraine

2nd Brigade Combat Team - StrikeFort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionYavoriv, Ukraine – Soldiers of Task Force Carentan, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) participated in the opening ceremony for the 95th Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the Yavoriv Combat Training Center here, June 3rd, 2019.

The 95th AASLT BDE began a 45 day training rotation at the YCTC that will culminate in a brigade level field training exercise. Soldiers of Task Force Carentan work alongside the Ukrainian CTC Cadre as mentors to enhance systems and NATO interoperability within the CTC.

Partnering nations include Canada, the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Poland, and Denmark.

Lt. Col. Michael Starz, commander of the CTC mentorship branch and lead mentor, expressed his excitement at the opportunity to work with and learn from Ukrainian partners.

“We stand ready to assist with the training objectives of the 95th AASLT BDE,” said Starz. “We offer you whatever you are prepared to receive.”

Lt. Col. Robert Tracy, commander of TF Carentan and the Joint Multinational Training Center – Ukraine, praised the successes of the incoming rotational unit.

“The reputation of the 95th Brigade preceded their arrival to the Yavoriv Combat Training Center,” commended Tracy. “It is only an elite group of warriors who arrive at the cutting edge of battle by air.

“The Air Assault Soldiers of the 101st are excited and eager to work with, and learn from, the paratroopers on the parade field today.”

Lt. Gen. Pavlo Tkachuk, commander of the Land Forces Academy at the YCTC, spoke to the renowned character of the 95th AASLT BDE and its influence on the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“We are honored to host the warriors of the 95th AASLT BDE here at JMTG-U,” emphasized Tkachuk. “I strongly believe that the skills obtained will become the powerful boost for enhancement of combat readiness.

“Their motto is ‘Strength, Courage, Honor’, which has become not only a slogan of the combined Air Assault Forces of Ukraine, but also demonstrates the exceptional commitment and courage of generations of Ukrainian Soldiers.”
