Clarksville Police Department has Two Officers receive Lifesaver Awards

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Two Clarksville Police officers were recognized for their actions during an emergency situation and were presented with Lifesaver Awards on Friday, June 7th, 2019. The Lifesaver award is given to officers whose direct actions saves or extends the life of another person.

The officers receiving the awards were Officer Brandan Hendricks and Officer Shavell Lucas. The awards were presented for the following actions:

On May 10th, 2019 around 4:17am, Clarksville Police Officers Brendan Hendricks and Shavell Lucas responded to 2653 Fort Campbell Boulevard regarding a shooting at a local nightclub.

Upon arrival, the officers found a male victim bleeding profusely from his leg and quickly recognized the need to apply a tourniquet due to the amount of blood loss the victim was experiencing.

Without hesitation, the officers worked together to successfully apply the tourniquet and continued first aid until EMS arrived. An EMS supervisor later stated that the application of the tourniquet was instrumental in saving the victim’s life.

The actions taken by the officers during this incident bring great credit to themselves and the Clarksville Police Department.
