Habitat ReStore, Art for Hearts to host Free Community Art Classes in July

Montgomery County Habitat RestoreClarksville, TN – In July, the first in a series of free community art classes will be presented by Habitat for Humanity ReStore and Art for Hearts.

These events will feature local artists leading participants in a painting project on the theme, “Turning Junk into Something Useful”.

Susie Yonkers will lead the July 13th event painting old cd’s in the mandala style. A mandala (Sanskrit for “circle”) is a complex abstract design. Kristi Huang will lead the July 20th class on Persian Style Tile Painting.

“This is a perfect partnership,” Habitat for Humanity Director Rob Selkow stated. “We’re blessed with a large space and we want to share in that abundance through community partnerships that bring diverse people together.”

“The mission of Art for Hearts is to engage the community through participation in the arts, which is a great fit for Habitat.”

The classes will be held at the Habitat Restore at 408 Madison Street from 1:00pm-3:00pm.

There is no admission charge and all supplies will be provided free. Participants should wear clothing they don’t mind getting messy.

Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County is a Christian housing ministry that partners with families in poverty housing on construction of new homes through 0% interest loans and using donated funds, labor and materials.
