The tours are self-guided but the crew members on hand at both ships will answer questions and share actual experiences. No reservations are needed. Guided tours are available for groups of 15 or more.

The Niña is the most historically accurate replica of a Columbus ship ever built. The Niña is 65 feet in length, an 18 foot beam (width) and drafts 7 feet. The ship was built using traditional tools, such as axes, adzes, hand saws and chisels, as well as utilizing traditional construction methods.

Pinta is an authentic reproduction of Christopher Columbus’ ship. She is a larger version of the archetypal caravel and offers larger deck space for walk-aboard tours. The Pinta is 85 feet in length, has a 24 foot beam (width) and drafts 7 feet.

These ships were built in Brazil where shipwrights use Mediterranean Whole Moulding in conjunction with techniques that may be similar or identical to those used by the builders of the period ships.

Tours are going on daily from 9:00am until 6:00pm.

About the Columbus Foundation

The Columbus Foundation’s aim is to educate the public on the type of ship, the “caravel”, that Columbus used to discover a new world in the year 1492. Columbus made 4 voyages totaling 12 years on ships like these. We take great pride in displaying and maintaining the only traveling replicas in existence today.
