Nashville Sounds defeat Memphis Redbirds 17-11 in hit fest

 

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – The Nashville Sounds used five big innings to come from behind to beat the Memphis Redbirds 17-11 Wednesday night at AutoZone Park. The come from behind win included a six run eighth inning scamper.

The Nashville Sounds used five big innings, including a six-run top of the eighth, to dispatch the Memphis Redbirds in a crazy 17-11 game Wednesday night at AutoZone Park.

Nashville scored three in the first inning, two in the fifth, four in the sixth, six in a bizarre eighth inning and two more in the ninth to notch their fifth win over the last seven games.

Nashville Sounds open series at Memphis Redbirds with 10-4 win

 

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN -The Nashville Sounds defeated the Memphis Redbirds 10-4 Tuesday night. The Sounds pounded out  a record 19 hits, setting a new team season-high. Zack Granite led the way with four hits.

The Redbirds scored first with two runs in the top of the first inning. The first run was scored on a balk by Joe Palumbo. Andrew Knizner hit an RBI single to get the second run in.

In his first game back on a rehab assignment, Scott Heineman hit a two-run homer to tie the game in the top of the second inning.

The Nashville Sounds tied a season-high with four home runs as they beat the New Orleans Baby Cakes 6-5. Eli White led the way for the Sounds’ offense getting three hits, including a home run and added a stolen base.

The first pitch of the game was a home run by Zack Granite, which was his second home run of the season. That put Nashville up 1-0.

Nashville Sounds fall late to New Orleans Baby Cakes, 8-5

 

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – The Nashville Sounds watched their lead vanish in the bottom of the eighth inning when the New Orleans Baby Cakes scored five runs to win  8-5 Sunday afternoon at the Shrine on Airline. The five-game set now is even at two wins apiece.

The Sounds trailed 3-1 after five innings but rallied over the next three frames to take a 5-3 lead. In the sixth, Eli White doubled and scored on a wild pitch, and Tyler Pill nailed a game-tying RBI double off the wall in right to make it 3-3. Then Nolan Fontana blasted a home run leading off the seventh and drew a bases-loaded walk against Brian Moran in the eighth for a 5-3 advantage.

APSU new Football season ticket inquiries for 2019 now being accepted

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – New season ticket inquiries for the 2019 Austin Peay State University football season are now being accepted by the APSU ticketing office .

Six home contests are on the docket for the first time since 2003, including the home opener against North Carolina Central set for Thursday, August 29th – the first Thursday home game since 2013. The 2019 slate features two home games against 2018 FCS Playoff participants: Jacksonville State and Southeast Missouri.

Nashville Sounds roll past New Orleans Baby Cakes, 10-3

 

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – On Saturday night, the Nashville Sounds dropped the New Orleans Baby Cakes 10-3 at the Shrine on Airline. Nashville’s Andy Ibanez and Carlos Tocci combined for seven hits, four runs and five RBIs in the win. The Sounds totaled a season-high 18 hits and matched their largest margin of victory on the year.

The game was tied 1-1 in the third when Nolan Fontana launched a home run to right field to give the Sounds a lead they never gave away, and they broke open the game with a six-run third off Ben Meyer. Eli White drilled a two-run double, Matt Davidson singled home a run and Ibanez crushed a three-run homer to make it 8-1.

APSU Baseball Summer Report, June 22nd

 

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) baseball has nine players playing in collegiate summer leagues across the country to gain more experience on the baseball diamond this summer.

Three Governors have taken summer residence in The Land of the Midnight Sun, competing in the Alaska Baseball League.
