Nashville Sounds blast three homers in the ninth to beat New Orleans Baby Cakes, 6-5

 

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – On Friday night, Nashville Sounds’ Tyler Pill, Patrick Wisdom and Matt Davidson hit home runs in the top of the ninth to push past the New Orleans Baby Cakes at the Shrine on Airline, 6-5.

The homers came off former Sound R.J. Alvarez and turned a 5-3 deficit into a 6-5 lead. Pill’s homer was his first as a Sound and led off the ninth. Then Wisdom crushed the first pitch he saw over the left field wall to tie the game at 5-5.

Davidson, who had entered the game as pinch-hitter in the seventh, drilled a 1-1 pitch an estimated 449 feet to give the Sounds a 6-5 lead.

APSU Football team spends time with Children at Lincoln Homes

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – On Wednesday, June 19th, 2019, the Austin Peay State University’s athletics department, the Office of Sustainability within the APSU Physical Plant, the Clarksville Housing Authority and the APSU football team came together to pick up litter and spend time with children at Lincoln Homes.

Nashville Sounds lose at New Orleans Baby Cakes, 6-2

 

Nashville SoundsNew Orleans, LA – Nashville Sounds fall 6-2 to the New Orleans Baby Cakes Tuesday night at the Shrine on Airline. The Baby Cakes hit four home runs in the win. Second baseman Isan Diaz hit a pair of solo blasts off Sounds’ starter Seth Maness.

The home run barrage started immediately when Magneuris Sierra started the bottom of the first inning with a lead off home run for the Baby Cakes.

New Orleans went on to score single tallies in the third, fourth and fifth innings to extend their lead to 4-0. The first home run of the night for Diaz was a solo shot in the top of the fifth inning.

Nashville Sounds drop Doubleheader to Salt Lake Bees

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – On Tuesday, the Nashville Sounds lost a doubleheader to the Salt Lake Bees at First Tennessee Park. Game one was lost 2-1 in a pitcher’s duel while game two was lost on a late surge by the Bees’ offense, who won 9-4.

The first runs of game one did not come until the fifth inning. Salt Lake’s Michael Hermosillo led off with a solo blast off the batter’s eye. Jarrett Parker hit a solo homer himself to give the Bees a 2-0 lead.

Nashville scored one run in the sixth inning. Matt Davidson led off with a double off the wall. Patrick Wisdom laced a single into left field that scored Davidson and cut the Salt Lake lead 2-1.

Nashville Sounds, Salt Lake Bees Monday Game Postponed

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds against against the Salt Lake Bees was postponed Monday at First Tennessee Park due to incoming inclement weather. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Tuesday, June 18th set to begin at 5:00pm. The doubleheader will be two seven inning games. Gates to First Tennessee Park will open at 4:30pm.

Fans who had a ticket for Monday night’s game can exchange it at the First Tennessee Park ticket office for any 2019 regular season game for a ticket of equal or lesser value, subject to availability.

Former APSU Gov, Clarksville native Ryne Harper making the most of MLB opportunity

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – After nine years and just over 300 games bouncing around in the minor leagues, former Austin Peay State University (APSU) Governors baseball player, and Clarksville native, Ryne Harper is off to a great start in this first action in the major leagues.

In a team-leading 30 appearances so far this season with the Minnesota Twins, Harper is 2-0, with a save, five holds, a 1.93 ERA, and 27 strikeouts to just six walks in 28 innings of work.

Nashville Sounds fall to Salt Lake Bees 11-8 Sunday afternoon at First Tennessee Park. Salt Lake scored seven runs in the second inning on their way to victory.

Salt Lake’s huge second inning started with a bang when Kaleb Cowart crushed a solo homer off Nashville starter Pedro Payano into The Band Box to make it a 1-0 game. Four of the next six batters reached safely – two on hits and two on walks issued by Payano.

Nashville Sounds Matt Davidson hits 200th Homer in win over Salt Lake Bees

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds beat the Salt Lake bees 5-4 in from of 11,622 fans at First Tennessee Park Saturday night. Matt Davidson hit his 200th career home run as a professional to lead the Sounds’ offense.

Eight batters came to the plate for Nashville in the bottom of the first inning. Carlos Tocci led off with a double and would be hit in on an Andy Ibanez single. Willie Calhoun would score on a wild pitch to score the second run. The Sounds would leave the bases loaded but took a 2-0 lead into the second inning.

APSU football adds four players for 2019 season

ASPU announces Jessica Cathey as new head Women’s Golf Coach

 

APSU Women's GolfClarksville, TN – On Thursday, June 13th, 2019, Austin Peay State University (APSU) Director of Athletics Gerald Harrsion announced that women’s golf legend Jessica Cathey is coming home.

Cathey, a three-time All-Ohio Valley Conference selection and two-time individual medalist for the Govs in her record-shattering senior campaign, has agreed to become the sixth head coach in APSU women’s golf history.
