Marsha Blackburn: This Week From Washington – February 5th, 2017

Congressman Marsha Blackburn

7th District of Tennessee

U.S. CongressWashington, D.C. – At President Donald Trump’s first State of the Union address, he invited a very important guest from our own Clarksville, TN. We all know that any person who signs up for the armed services already exhibits an extraordinary character.

The sacrifice that they, and their families, make to serve our country is beyond measure. Through their commitment to protecting our nation, we are forever in their debt. America is the greatest country on earth, but it can only remain so because of the selfless acts of those who serve in our military.

U.S. Congress

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Marsha Blackburn disappointed in harmful tariff decision on U.S. residential washing machines:

“While I support trade policies that strengthen American manufacturing and will put this nation on a fair playing field internationally, I am disappointed in the overly harsh ruling of Section 201 tariff remedies against imports of residential washing machines. Along with Secretary Ross, I attended the groundbreaking of LG Electronics’ $250 million home appliance manufacturing facility in Clarksville, TN last summer. ”

Marsha Blackburn: This Week From Washington – January 27th, 2017

Congressman Marsha Blackburn

7th District of Tennessee

U.S. CongressWashington, D.C. – As many of you know, last Friday at midnight, the government shut down. The Democrats in the Senate showed their constituents, and every American, that they chose to forgo funding for our military, our elderly, and our children in order to fulfill their political agenda.

And if you remember, this was an agenda that President Trump was very clear on. The President told the Democrats that if they wanted a DACA deal, then they had to come to the negotiation table. Once there was funding for the border wall, an end to chain migration, and an end of the visa lottery system, President Trump would allow a DACA deal.

Representative Marsha Blackburn supports roll back of Net Neutrality

Congressman Marsha Blackburn

7th District of Tennessee

U.S. CongressWashington, D.C. – The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted Thursday to roll back Obama-era internet regulations called “net neutrality.” I fully support FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s decision on this. Let me tell you why.

There’s a lot of confusion about the term “net-neutrality,” which leads consumers to believe that before 2015 it was difficult to have free and fair access to the internet. This is not the case. Were you able to access the internet before 2015? Could you access websites for free? The answer is most likely yes. FCC regulations were not needed then, and they aren’t needed now. But there are some big internet issues we need to solve.

Happy Thanksgiving from Marsha Blackburn

Written by Marsha Blackburn
7th District of Tennessee

U.S. CongressWashington, D.C. – On the fourth Thursday of every November, Americans give thanks for many things—but mostly food, family and friendship. This year, I want to personally recognize each of my district’s 19 counties for their individual characteristics, notable citizens, and generous businesses. Thank you, Seventh District. You are wonderful constituents.

If you’re a military veteran in Benton County, you know George Hargrove as the head of all things veteran. Active with the Chamber of Commerce and Benton County Veterans Memorial in Camden, he is a faithful and passionate advocate for our war heroes. Thank you, George, for your leadership and encouragement. You make middle-Tennessee a better place to work and live.

Marsha Blackburn: This Week From Washington – July 23rd, 2017

Congressman Marsha Blackburn

7th District of Tennessee

U.S. CongressWashington, D.C. – As the stories in the media on health care seemingly change from day to day, one thing remains clear: Americans deserve action. We must act. In addition to speaking with many of you, I spoke on a number of shows this week about the need to get something done on health care and what the Senate can do to make some progress on this issue.

The Senate is now considering a bill that has previously passed to repeal Obamacare with a two-year delay to allow Congress the time to craft and debate legislation that truly addresses the root problems of our high health care costs.

Congressman Marsha Blackburn

7th District of Tennessee

U.S. CongressWashington, D.C. – Ahead of the 4th of July holiday, it was a busy week in Washington. From health care to immigration we tackled a range of important issues in the House.

With the House’s work on phase one of our repeal and replace efforts completed, this week we continued work on phase three: lowering costs of health care. I spoke with Bill Hemmer and Stu Varney about the prospects of health care in Congress and the work we are still doing in the House.
