Austin Peay State University Lady Govs Track and Field set to host APSU Invitational

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Track and Field
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team will host the APSU Invitational, Saturday, at Governors Stadium.
The field events are scheduled to begin at 9:00am with the hammer throw, with the track events scheduled to begin at 11:00am, with the 400m relay.

APSU Athlete of the week Craig Massoni
Clarksville, TN – Junior first baseman Craig Massoni, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
The Danville, CA, native hit .385 in three games last week, adding a home run and seven RBI. Much of Massoni’s damage came in his monstrous 3-for-4, six-RBI outing against Southern Illinois, Tuesday. Each of his hits drove in two Governor runs in an 11-8 victory.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Softball sweeps Alabama A&M Bulldogs
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team opened up the home part of its 2013 schedule with a sweep of Alabama A&M, Wednesday afternoon at Cheryl Holt Field, coming away with 6-0 and 6-2 victories.
Junior Lauren de Castro (3-1) and freshman Abby Guest combined to throw the shutout in Game 1 for the Lady Govs (5-3), with de Castro going the first six innings – giving up four hits and five walks with seven strikeouts – while Guest struck out two and gave up a hit in her one inning of work.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University softball team’s doubleheader against Alabama A&M, originally scheduled for February 26th, has been pushed back to Wednesday, February 27th, at 12:00pm and 2:00pm at Cheryl Holt Field.
This doubleheader will serve as Austin Peay’s home opener for 2013 – the first of 17 home games on the Lady Govs schedule this season.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University softball team’s doubleheader against Alabama A&M, originally scheduled for February 26th, has been pushed back to Wednesday, February 27th, at 12:00pm and 2:00pm at Cheryl Holt Field.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Softball sweeps Trevecca Trojans Saturday
APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Softball
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University‘s softball team pounded out 27 hits, while scoring 22 runs, in sweeping Trevecca Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader 4-1 and 18-6.
Seven different Austin Peay (3-3) players recorded at least two hits in the nightcap, as the Lady Govs 18 runs were the most scored by Austin Peay since totaling 17 runs against Kentucky State during the 1994 season. Austin Peay finished with 19 hits overall, 11 for extra bases.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Track and Field head to Nashville for TSU Invitational
APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Track and Field
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team makes its second trip this season down I-24 for a meet at Tennessee State.
The TSU Invitational starts 6:00pm, Friday, with the pole vault at the Dunn Center on the third floor before moving to the Gentry Center for the remainder of competition, beginning at 8:00am, Saturday.
