Northeast High School falls to Mt. Juliet in Region 5-AAA Quarterfinals

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – Northeast High School’s, and ultimately Alex Poythress’, dreams of going to the state tournament were dashed in a Region 5-AAA quarterfinal game by Mt. Juliet 68-61 Friday night at the Eagles Nest.

Mt. Juliet, the District 9-AAA regular season champions put the No. 4 team out of the 9-AAA Tournament, will move on to play Clarksville High School on Tuesday at Northeast High School at 6:00pm.

Northeast High School Eagles fight off Dickson County to win District 10-AAA Boys Tournament

 

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN РNortheast High needed a little perfection and some simple good old fashion will to hold off Dickson County in the District 10-AAA Boys Tournament Championship game at the Eagles Nest  and they got both in it 55-46 victory Tuesday night.

The perfection came from the 10-for-10 shooting and 9-for-9 from the free-throw line performance put forth by Kentucky signee Alex Poythress in scoring a game-high 29 points and he made it a double-double with a game-high 14 rebounds.

Clarksville High School holds off Kenwood in District 10-AAA third-place game

 

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – Clarksville High needed and overtime to do it, but the Wildcats held off Kenwood 70-66 in the Boys District 10-AAA Tournament third-place game Tuesday night at Northeast High School.

With the win, the Wildcats (20-10) move on to play Hendersonville (18-11) the second place-team out of District 9-AAA there in a Region 5-AAA game at 7:00pm. Saturday.

In the consolation game of Men's High School Basketball Tournament, Clarksville High School won over Kenwood High School 70-66 in overtime.

Northeast High School overpowers Kenwood High School in a District 10-AAA game

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN РThe No. 5 Northeast Eagles beat the Kenwood Knights  61-49 in District 10-AAA action Friday night at Kenwood High School Gymnasium

The Eagles (22-2, 12-1 10-AAA) were led by Kentucky commit Alex Poythress along with help from junior Darius Brown. Poythress started the game with a two-handed dunk to set the tone. The Eagles jumped to an early six point lead that forced the Knights to take an early timeout. Immediately following the timeout, Maleek Hall picked off a pass for an easy layup that ended the 6-0 run.

Kenwood's Trent McLaurin goes up for a fancy two-pointer. In the second match-up of the season, the Knights held on longer than they did their first time around, but still felll to the Eagles 61-48.

Northeast High School Eagles vs Clarksville High WildcatsClarksville, TN – It’s just they way this rivalry works.

Clarksville High didn’t necessarily do the unthinkable, but the Wildcats certainly did the unexpected in their 69-60 upset District 10-AAA victory over No. 4 Northeast in Clarksville High School’s William Workman Gym Friday night.

Clarksville High (13-8, 8-3 10-AAA) were led by the trio of Daijon Williams and Anthony Hightower, who led the team with 18 points, and Drake Young and his 13 points.

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – The Northeast Eagles beat the Northwest Vikings in a boys basketball game at Northwest High School on December 13th, 2011. The win improved Northeast, the top team in The Tennessean MidState boys poll, to 9-0 overall and 6-0 in District 10-AAA play.

Northwest fell to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in District 10-AAA action. Northeast will play in the Riverdale Tournament starting on Monday. Northwest will play in Kenwood’s Queen City Classic starting on Monday.

Northeast High improved to 9-0 on the season with its 82-31 victory at Northwest on Tuesday night in a District 10-AAA game.

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – There are some games where everything goes your way and that certainly was the case for Northeast High in its 82-31 victory at Northwest in a District 10-AAA game Tuesday night.

And it’s especially easy when you’re led by a superstar like the Eagles (9-0, 6-0 10-AAA) are in Kentucky signee Alex Poythress, who led all with a double-double of 28 points and 14 rebounds to go along with six blocks.
