APSU Basketball hosts Toledo this weekend for 2018 Seasons first home games

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay’s baseball team and Mother Nature continue their early season battle with this weekend’s series against Toledo being modified to avoid heavy rainfall in the forecast.

The three-game set is scheduled to begin at noon, Friday, with the Govs and Rockets playing a doubleheader.

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Center fielder Nick Walker hit a pair of home runs but it wasn’t enough as Austin Peay State University’s baseball team dropped a 16-7 home-opening decision to Southern Illinois, Tuesday night at Raymond C. Hand Park.

On a blustery day, Austin Peay (3-1) posted its first three home runs of the season.

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team will open its 2018 home schedule when it hosts Southern Illinois in a 3:00pm, Tuesday contest at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Austin Peay (3-0) opened its season with a last-minute excursion to St. Louis where it swept through two games against South Dakota State before closing the weekend by downing Illinois.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Baseball, Men’s Golf Teams open seasons with a flourish

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball and men’s golf teams opened their respective spring schedules this past weekend with impressive starts, as Governors athletics continue to shine during the 2017-18 school year.

Both teams couldn’t have asked for much more to kick-off their seasons, with baseball going 3-0, with two wins versus South Dakota State and a victory versus Big-10 Conference member Illinois, while men’s golf went right down to the wire in finishing second out of 16 teams at the Invitational at Savannah Harbor – won and hosted by William & Mary.

APSU Baseball pitches shutout Sunday against Illinois

APSU BaseballSt. Louis, MO – Starting pitcher Brandon Vial and two other pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout as Austin Peay State University’s baseball team completed an opening weekend sweep with a 2-0 victory against Illinois, Sunday, at Billiken Sports Center.

Vial (1-0), who won in his Governors debut, held Illinois to five hits through his 7.1 innings but never allowed a hit to snowball into bigger things.

APSU Baseball gets 9-3 win over South Dakota State

APSU BaseballSauget, IL – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team took advantage of a drove of South Dakota State pitching miscues in the seventh inning to break open a close game and post a 9-3 victory, Saturday, at GCS Credit Union Ballpark.

Trailing 2-1 entering the seventh, Austin Peay (2-0) capitalized on five walks, three wild pitches, two passed balls and a mental miscue to score six runs in the seventh.

APSU BaseballSt. Louis, MO – Shortstop Garrett Kueber scored on a wild pitch in the seventh inning to give Austin Peay State University’s baseball team a lead it would not relinquish in a 4-2 victory against South Dakota State, Friday afternoon at Billiken Sports Park.

Austin Peay (1-0) saw its offense rally just after South Dakota State’s Newt Johnson tied the game, 2-2, with a leadoff home run in the top of the seventh.

APSU Baseball travels to St. Louis to take on South Dakota State

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Mother Nature forced Austin Peay State University’s baseball team to both change its opponent and hit the road for its season-opening weekend.

The Governors, who were originally scheduled to play Maryland Eastern Shore in Clarksville, now will open 2018 with a three-game series against South Dakota State, Friday-Sunday, at Saint Louis University’s Billiken Sports Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
