APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Designated hitter Parker Phillips had two home runs but Austin Peay State University’s baseball team saw a late rally fall a run short in a 14-13 Ohio Valley Conference loss to Tennessee Tech, Saturday afternoon.

Phillips’ two home runs highlighted an impressive six home run outing by the Austin Peay (11-12, 4-5 OVC) offense.

Chase Hamilton’s walkoff gives APSU Baseball 9-8 win over Arkansas State

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball right fielder Chase Hamilton‘s hard ground ball with the bases loaded in the ninth inning supplied the game-winning run as the Governors won in walkoff fashion, 9-8, against Arkansas State, Wednesday, at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Austin Peay (11-9) trailed 8-4 entering its half of the seventh inning but the Governors comeback started when first baseman Dre Gleason walked to start the frame and center fielder Alex Robles doubled down the left field line.

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityMurray, KY – Offense ruled the day in Sunday’s Ohio Valley Conference series finale, but Austin Peay State University’s baseball team could not overcome its own defensive miscues in a 17-12 loss to Murray State.

For a second straight game, Austin Peay (10-9, 4-2 OVC) had the early momentum, scoring four runs in the first inning.

Alex Robles with Austin Peay Baseball named APSU Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN –  Austin Peay State University baseball senior utility man Alex Robles has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Tucson, Arizona, native followed up his second career shutout, Saturday, with a game-winning, walk-off home run to give the Govs a sweep of preseason Ohio Valley Conference favorite Jacksonville State to open the conference schedule.

In Saturday’s complete game effort, he struck out 11 batters—including six of the final nine—allowing just three hits and a walk. It was his fifth career complete game.
